Oh yes, one more. Please bear with me. I dont know if the traffic rules in Bangalore are funny or am bad at driving. I keep finding myself interacting with the cops so regularly.
Only last night I was telling my friend that I was having a good incident free run with traffic, and today that good run was broken.
Ok ok,I did not see the "No Free Left Turn" sign. Hmmm, as luck would have it a senior (by age) cop stopped me and promptly took my keys away. He was experienced.
Sid: What hapened sir?
Cop: You jumped the red light.
Sid: But sir that was a free left.
Cop: No, you did not see the sign.
Sid: Oh is it. It is my mistake then.
Cop: Give Rs300
(Unlike last time, remember the other night, when my wallet was almost empty, I was carrying enough cash today)
Sid: Here sir, your rs300.
Cop looks at the the money, looks at me. Gives a Rs100 bill back and asks me to leave.
Sid: The chalan sir?
Cop: You want chalan?
Sid: Sure sir, how else will i learn.
Now, you should have seen the expression on his face, confused smile.
He makes a challan for Rs100, gets my signature on it, gives anoher bill of Rs100 back.
Cop: You are a good man, so am leaving you.
Sid: Thank you sir. It is your duty to catch the offenders.
I must have done something good for the cops some time. I will sure become (in)famous with the traffic police here, soon.

The best thing I like in you is that you never wait before taking out bucks from the wallet!!
;'D
This is something that happened to me....
A cop just caught me on Marina beach here in Chennai. I have a Delhi number here in Chennai without NOC.
Cop: Show me the papers
I gave him the RC photocopy and Licence and Insurance papers
Cop: The insurance is expired !!
Give me the NOC!!
Vikas: I don't have it!!
Cop: You are from Delhi, you should have a NOC otherwise how should the Police know that your Bike is in Chennai??
Vikas: I tried at Delhi, they said that it is made in Chennai...Can you tell me sir where can I get it done here??
Cop: No its made in Delhi!!
Vikas: You can ask the officers there....If you want I can make you talk to them....I have the number!!
Cop: No its made in Delhi!!
Vikas: No Sir, Please atleast have achat with them!!
Cop: No its made in Delhi!!
You will have to pay 1000 Rs fine.
Vikas: Okay, give me the challan!!
Cop: Are you sure??
Vikas: Yes give me the challan!!
Cop: Okay pay me 500 and go!!
Vikas: No I want the challan!!
Cop: Why do you want to pay more wen I am asking you only 500.....Okay give me 300!!
Vikas: No Sir, I will pay the challan, My company will reimburse it for me!!
The Cop was very frustrated and came down from 300 to 200 and ultimately to 100.
Vikas: Sir, I want to pay the challan, I will get it reimbursed it from my company.
He was very furious by then, He asked me to come to the Booth.
We went there and he was searching for something for 2 minutes.
He came out and asked me to give me 50 Rs.
I didnt agree...
So at last he just threw the key to me and asked me to go.
Now this is the incident that has happened to me many times in Chennai and I learned to do this in Delhi.
No Cop is ready to have a challan, instead they as for less money.
I think the rules now are more harder in Delhi....they have combined the Cop's commision with the Challan....now I have to take care in Delhi before challenging any Cop.
Nothing against Chennai, but the police here is pretty afraid of the people who speak against them (may be this applies to most of the states), I dont know why......They think that people should always fear Police. I hope they realise their real duty someday.
so many traffic incidents....it's time for u to take a break from b'lore and come to mumbai! :D
smart Sid knew he would pay less with a challan...
vikas,
why don't you write your own blog? You have simply adopted sid' style of writing and your story is far from convincing. Your writing isn't as effective as sid'.Instead of copying sid's work, put your creative abilities(if you have any) to use and come up with your own creation.Only your own creation would give credence to your writing abilities and statements.Hope to see your novel ideas presented in your own style.
Something similiar happened to me in Mumbai :D, I ended up payin 100 bucks. I thing these incidents happen in every city be it Bangalore, Chennai (like Vikas said) or Mumbai. U need to be extremely lucky to escape them :D
I think its a better option writing comments, as I am finding more critics and appreciation here than I would have find in my own blog.
Whether being critical or appreciative, we are ultimatley discussing the things that affect our lives and I think that is what matters!!
wasting time on vikas is worthless. He is looking to occupy the space. He is deliberately pretending to be indifferent to the idea behind the message.Instead of being innovative he is a simple conformist.Wondering if he has any ideas at all.
I think the idea behind the message was to discuss on the topic. I tried giving inputs from my part.
May be I do not have any new ideas, but atleast I can build upon someone's else, I hope Sid has no problems with that.
Cheers!!
so very u!!!
